De Rasher Counter
Good first season over fences ended with second win over them in a good novices’ handicap chase at Uttoxeter in March, held up, made ground and prominent 14th, disputed lead arguably going best of the field after 4 out, definitely moved best as sent on approaching 2 out, in close and led only a neck at most, hard ridden, effort and stayed on to draw clear approaching last, ridden out, maintained clear advantage last 125 yards, workmanlike and decisive from Late Romantic. Progressing chaser: well in on his chasing form; no certainty first up but hard to totally leave out
Culture De Sivola*
Only success last season in Listed mares’ hurdle at Kempton in dense fog over Christmas, headway round the field after 8th, chased leader going to 9th, niggled along after 3 out, tracked 1st 2 turning for home, shaken up, effort and led straightening, ridden and stayed on to go 3 lengths up 2 out, hard ridden, sustained effort, was closed on going to last, 1st 2 clear, hard driven and stayed on well to assert last 150 yards from Molly Childers. Cut no ice when last seen, in Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival, became detached from main body of the field approaching 6th, hard ridden and going worst of the field starting final circuit, tailed off when pulled up after 2 out. Player on reappearance
The Two Amigos*
Progressing chaser when last seen, best performance when following up a win over 3m6f at Exeter by winning 3m4f Sussex National at Plumpton in January, jumped slightly right throughout, led 10th, ridden into 14th, led 2 lengths 4 out, travelled best as 1st 2 pulled clear by turn out of back straight, pushed along approaching 2 out, the better jump, stayed on under a push between last 2, was a length up last, hard driven, stayed on well run-in from Calin Du Brizais. Off games since falling early on final circuit in National Trial at Haydock in February, was going comfortably at the time. Won first up last season, acts on heavy and well in on chasing form
Graceful Legend*
Another in this line-up reappearing over hurdles. Best effort last season when winning Class 3 handicap chase at Newbury in March,  nudged along approaching 5 out, niggled along and effort to chase leader home turn, ridden into and led 4 out, stayed on and went 3 lengths clear by 3 out, pushed along, pricked ears and 2 lengths up 2 out, put under pressure, a length up last, driven out, stayed on well to pull further clear, sustained effort to the line, decisive from Master Burbidge. Down the field behind Kupatana in Listed mares’ handicap chase at Cheltenham in April when last seen. Good mark, 130, and has won fresh in the past
Pobbles Bay
Yet another chaser starting his season over hurdles. It was the proverbial long time between drinks until he won West Wales National at Ffos Las on April 21st, midfield 15th, moved comfortably home turn, headway to track leaders approaching 4 out, reached for 3 out and went 2nd, pushed along, moved upsides 2 out, carried head to one side briefly when pushed along, led last, ridden, perhaps had a think about it but asserted half a furlong out, not hard ridden once in front, readily from Kingswell Theatre. No certainty to go well fresh but is off 130, the same mark as he won off at Ffos Las
Final Choice
Exposed hurdler but in form after a c/d win last time on October 6th (second Uttoxeter win), taken wide and headway into midfield before 8th, in touch in leading group 9th, travelled best as made good ground to track leaders home turn, niggled along after, made good ground to lead 2 out, shaken up, effort to pull clear of 2nd and 3rd, clear last, ridden out, sustained effort to pull further clear, workmanlike and unchallenged by 7 lengths from Merry Milan. More to do off a higher mark in a better race
Mcnamaras Band
Won his maiden hurdle at Chepstow in March when last seen, rather pulled his way forward and prominent 3rd, niggled along and tracked leaders home turn, led 3 out, niggled along still, led 3 lengths 2 out, stayed on under a hand ride, changed legs approaching last, hung left a little but 5 lengths up last, pushed out, drew further clear, readily and decisive by 10 lengths from Mercy Mercy Me. From the family of Rince Ri, should stay this longer trip but worried about his tendency to pull hard
Sir Will
Not won since taking a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Ascot in March 2018; light season in 2018/19, only three runs and best effort when trying to win the Ascot race for the second year running, went on, clear, ridden into 2nd, in close to 4th and 5th, was joined 7th, pressed on approaching 8th, pushed along in narrow lead after 3 out, stayed on till mistake and headed 2 out, stuck to task till faded last, no more, weakened last 100 yards, 4th to Black Buble beaten just over 6 lengths. Idles in front when he’s at his best; course winner in the past
De Vous A Moi
Not seen out since winning at Newcastle over fences in January 2018, not going best on the home turn but staying on well from the second last and beating Newtown Lad a length. Not seen out for 626 days and with his trainer Sue Smith seemingly firing blanks at the moment, hard to fancy here despite a favourable mark
Tea Time Fred
Normally seen round the West country-tracks, was in the form of his life when last seen out and followed up two Worcester wins when landing the hattrick at Fontwell on October 4th, giving the impression that he could have won had it been more competitive than the four-runner event that it was: moved upsides leader as pace increased before 10th, led going best approaching 3 out, 3 lengths clear home turn, pushed along from 2 out, stayed on in front, drew 2 lengths clear last, ridden out, ran on run-in and pulled further clear, decisive by 7 lengths from Ramore Will. Now ending up in a Class 2 race, likely to be outclassed
Sirobbie
Was beginning to progress when last seen out in June (debut over hurdles in November 2018), looked most genuine when beating the ungenuine Theatrebar at Uttoxeter, went on, in close to 3rd, mistake 8th, was closed on approaching turn out of back straight, niggled along, mistake 3 out and was joined, pushed along, not going as well as the challenging Theatrebar approaching 2 out, stayed on but jumped 2 out a neck down, hard ridden, switched inner to middle to come round rival approaching last, led jumping, ridden out, stayed on well to pull clear. Ability to act on the going has to be taken on trust – relatives (including fair staying chaser Ballycassidy) were better on better ground
