The Roy Waterhouse Steeplechasing website will put up one tip, every Saturday during the core period of the jumps season, available at 10/1 or better, that’s worth backing with, well, what the strap above says – so that’s £1 win, or 50p each-way.
The Throwaway Quid-tip
for Boxing Day 2019:
ELIXIR DE NUTZ
Go figure this one: Elixir De Nutz beats Grand Sancy in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown back in January by half a length at level weights, and can be backed at 16/1 on Boxing morning for the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton; Fusil Raffles beats Grand Sancy in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton in November by three quarters of a length, with the runner-up conceding 3 lbs, and he’s 2/1. Granted, Elixir De Nutz dropped from first to last after the home turn in the International at Cheltenham, but he probably needed his reappearance and the sprint finish didn’t suit him, so it’s reasonable to expect better from him in the Christmas Hurdle – even if you fancy Fusil Raffles, no way should he be favourite.
