The Throwaway Quid, 18/01/20

The Roy Waterhouse Steeplechasing website will put up one tip, every Saturday during the core period of the jumps season, available at 10/1 or better, that’s worth backing with, well, what the strap above says – so that’s £1 win, or 50p each-way.

The Throwaway Quid-selection,
Saturday January 18th:

THE KNOT IS TIED,
2.25 Ascot

Several are worth taking on in this eight-runner Grade 3 handicap hurdle, particularly Thomas Darby and Ballymoy coming back from unsuccessful stints over fences and Pic D’Orhy with only one run down the field in the Triumph to his name in Britain. I’m taking a chance with bottom weight The Knot Is Tied, on his first run after a wind-op – Jack Tudor’s claim brings him into the handicap-proper and he stays well, both on the Flat and, on the evidence of his Newbury win over 2m3f last March, over hurdles. There’s 11/1 available this morning.
